Other Styles of Bird Feeders

Platform, Tray, Globe Feeders   If you only have one feeder in your yard a tray-type feeder would be the one.  Choose a large one that accommodates a slew of birds.  By adding other feeders you can pick up the overflow and provide select treats.  Cardinals, finches, jays, grosbeaks, bluebirds, nuthatches, chickadees, titmice, and buntings all prefer an open tray feeder.  To attract the ground-feeders--native sparrows, quail, towhees, and doves--use a very low tray on short legs.  These feeders can offer a variety of food to a large variety of birds!

Window Bird Feeders   Window bird feeders bring the birds up close.  Both seed and hummingbird feeders are available.  Suction them to your window and wait for your feathered visitors.  Though the birds may be skittish at first, they soon become used to the presence of an observer, as long as you do not make any sudden movements.

  Hopper Feeders   Hopper feeders are designed to protect seed from the weather.  Most dole out seeds as they are needed and large amounts are not exposed to wet or snowy weather or kicked out by scratching birds.  Metal hopper feeders are also squirrel-proof using a weight-triggers mechanism--the weight of the squirrel closes the feeding port.  Many birds, including chickadees, nuthatches, titmice, cardinals, jays and woodpeckers eat eagerly at a hopper feeder.

Suet Feeders   Suet feeders are designed for a specific type of food--suet.  Suet, as birders think of it, is primarily plastic wrapped square  packages of fat infused with berries, seed, or insects.  From a bird's point of view, suet is pretty perfect food.  Because of their fast metabolism, birds never worry about eating too many calories.  Wire baskets are ideal for feeding suet.  We have several styles to choose from to add a ready supply of energy to your birds.

Wire Mesh Feeders   Wire mesh bird feeders come in several styles for nyjer seeds, mixed seed, and sunflower seeds.  The advantage of the wire mesh is that clinging birds can eat anywhere on the feeder--even upside down!  There are several unique designs and these feeder make bird watching particularly fun.  Give one of these beautiful feeders a try!
